I remember the controls blowing much ass, but other than that, I didn't write it off as a total failure, it did have it's redeeming qualities too. Besides, it got ported to the NES, and even had a sequel! They must of done something right.
Btw, did you know that Lord British just got back from space on a Russian space shuttle?!?
First played it in 87 I think it was, it was one of the very first games I ever bought for the miggie...

The mouse controls were a wee bit of a pain in the arse but the sheer scale of the landscape and the night and day feature made it pretty damn amazing at the time...
Dunno about Lord British... but my Grannie was a cosmonaut and was last seen near the planet Galifrey hurling abuse at Dr Who on a visit to Slartibartfast, whom had 3 white mice up for sale & a bit of Norwegian Coastline...
