Do you have an A1200 that has flickering/ wavy lines on the screen, especially when it accesses the floppy or hard disk drives...

Then fear not, here is the perfect fix that will get rid of that annoying flicker and give you a nice clean picture...

All that is required is a 1uf capacitor & a soldering iron...

Firstly here are two pictures of the A1200 motherboard (Rev 1D.4). Even though they have the same revision number depending where they were manufactured one has component in place (location D215) and doesn't suffer from this flicker problem, while the other has a component missing and this is the one that causes the annoying flicker...


A1200 Rev 1D.4 with component (D215) and doesn't flicker...


A1200 Rev 1D.4 without component (D215) and does flicker...



All that is required is a 1uf capacitor to be soldered to the motherboard as shown (location D215A) in the pictures below and this will eliminate totally that annoying flicker for good...

A1200 Rev 1D.4 with capacitor soldered in place & flicker problem fixed...


And there you have it no more flickering or wavy lines, just a perfect smooth picture...

Alternatively you can drink a bottle of scotch and then the wavy lines vanish into one big blurry mess.

But I'm a teetotal Scotsman (very rare & hard to find) & Irn bru aint strong enough to have the same effect...

On the the other hand me meds are quite strong they don't get rid of the wavy lines though and kinda introduce a new problem of lots of psychedelic colours...

But then after that you just don't care and everything is mellow...
