Jesus wept, they just keep getting worse. What next? Are they going to pay someone £50 to dig up my Grandad, engrave a chicken head logo on his skull and offer him to me for £1500 as a living room ornament?
"As far as I know, CUSA is planning some work on software (AFAIK). Leo & Dammy has stated that they plan to bring an online store soon for Commodore OS that will allow users to purchase/download classic Commodore apps and games online (as D64/ADF files perhaps?) sometime in the future - so expect it to be Commodore-themed for the retro geek." - Middleman
So when he says "work on software" he means work on a web store to sell other peoples software? "classic Commodore apps and games" so he means other peoples software that was developed over 20 years ago? I know how I would feel if I spent £1700 on a PC worth £1000 and when I got it home I realised that my £700 CUSA tax had been invested in a system whereby I could be mugged again for 20+ year old abandonware and not in a system to provide tech support when my 120w PSU fails taking the motherboard out with it.
Then what happens to all the community generated good will that has seen abandoned software released to the remaining small community for free or even open sourced thanks to the efforts of some dudes who's names I forget. I guess it's better to have a community where developers can earn money than where that idea is so incredible that they just give their work away but it seems that CUSA will position themselves such that they can't loose and if anyone does it'll be the classic community. I mean CUSA business may fail but it's just a company, they can piss off and do something else. The Classic amiga users can't really.
Surely all that stuff is
common heritage by now anyway?
If this is their Joyboard I don't want their Amiga.
P.S. "Barry is taking time out of his valuable day to do this interview so don't waste his time on substandard questions."
Christ, I don't care what people say about how rude the Scots are they wouldn't suffer bullshit like that and they wouldn't let each other try to bullshit others like that. "his valuable day" He's only got one? Why doesn't he do the interview the day after then? It's pathetic nonsense like that that stops professional companies with capable employees from posting on internet forums. Any serious company finding itself represented in that manner would take disciplinary action against the employee responsible.
P.P.S. Am I right in thinking that the last time CUSA pretended to care about the classic community it was to get them on board to buy some C64X's or whatever they were called? If so then is it a safe assumption that this is a BS PR exercise to try to maximise classic user purchase and minimise classic user dissent and is all just a pack of lies while they fuck us over for 20 year old abandonware?
Still, I remain open-minded
We'll see what comes of this.
